This video is well received on the Internet for some times, thank you for posting it here.
My other comment is what about other brains like DOC, myself (if I consider myself as a brain!) and Professor so and so right here and there?
Is it a good thing that those brains are draining, leaving their motherland? Well, we did the same thing , so if it is a good idea then what is the point of the video, I don’t get it! If it is not a good thing to be brain drain and deprive your motherland from the benefits of your brain, then what the hell all of us are doing here, why don’t we go back to motherland and serve her? I don’t get this point either! May be I have a simple brain!!?
My understanding is that the point of the video is to underscore the reasons for the brain drain. I’m sure most, if not all, of the Iranian talent now living outside Iran would actually rather serve the motherland if conditions for their work, living, etc. were better, if they had more freedom of expression, etc., etc. For the educated class, the situation back home in Iran is really intolerable, for more reasons than one.
Dear DOC, your comments for sure are reasonable and to the point. It seems however that you and perhaps others in the position of power and prestige are waiting for a nice, comfortable and cozy condition to develop in motherland so that you go there and offer your valuable services. With all due respect, isn’t this sound a bit opportunistic?! Of course IF the political, economic, and social environment WAS what WE thought is acceptable, we would ALL, or at least MOST OF US, go back.
The point that is not addressed is which one of us, with all of the heart break, homesickness, and frankly ASHK TEMSAAH, that we have and claim, rightly or superficially, is willing to take ANY CNOCRET action, beyond and above “I love IRAN” and other empty SHOAAR, to take actual RISK and be an instrument of tangible change so we can all go back? Very few of us are willing to sacrifice, including that Oscar winner who had the best opportunity to make a statement, and of course I include myself!! What about the Dean of this school or that in such university, including the head of chief of such and such department in such and such major hospital, a distinguished, or not so, professor in this college and that university, the professionals in th highest position in the industry, and the list goes on. Where is their voice? The sell-outs who can deliver nice comforting speeches if needed and it is a crime if someone calls them fakes!!
I have written about this in various internet groups and sites, and unfortunately I did not meet anyone, other than handful of truly committed people, that had the intestinal fortitude, courage and guts, to step forward and talk about action, strategy, and specific ways to change the unacceptable conditions in the homeland. Most people play the political correctness game for the reason of personal economic gains; and social position, they lied and fake it. That is called the real ASHK TEMSAAH!
Would be nice to hear more from you regarding this subject.
Well, I’m nowhere near a “position of power and prestige”.
What are your specific and concrete ways to bring about a change in the unacceptable conditions in the homeland?
As far as I’m concerned, I am really not after economic and financial gain. Naturally, I don’t want to starve either. I’d be more than happy, willing, and ready to render any service I can to my homeland if I have freedom of conscience, freedom of expression (and freedom after expression), and political freedom, and equal rights for all ethnic and cultural and political minorities and women in my homeland. I want to see an end to the culture of deceit, lying, and hypocrisy there. Just a very basic and average income is more than enough for me if the conditions change and liberties are guaranteed.
I’m very much interested in hearing your thoughts for concrete and specific steps and particular actions.
